I've done this. It's awesome. If I were to do it again, I would get a Boxter. They are starting to cost less than the 914 and the chassis and suspension are obviously more refined. Not as light, but there's plenty of room to add lightness via composite panels and other such removings.

But I want to buy a house at some point, so I need to save money. And until I have a house, I don't want another car because I don't want to leave it outside.
There's a piece of shit miata with a salvage title that's been sitting on a dealer lot for a long time, I'm very tempted to offer them a super low offer and turn it into a track car. That's the only way I buy another car right this moment: something that's already beat so when it gets hailed on I won't feel bad.

If I had waited a few months and still bought a Sonic, I would have bought blue. When I bought mine the RS only came in black, white, and red.
The dust and pollen that has already coated my car a day after washing it tells me that was the wrong decision.

I hate that I don't have pictures. My Kia got fuuuuuuucked by golf ball sized hail. Roof was totally hammered. Every body panel needed something done. New fenders, new trunk, new roof panel, new windshield.
Spent 3 weeks in the shop. Thank god for $500 deductibles...

Yes and get one of these
check for rust along the jack posts, behind/under the battery and below the rear door jams. Carburated so it'll be down a little but its Kansas so I'm going out on a limb that hills won't be an issue.
